Happy Sunday! I hope you got all the rest you needed this weekend and are ready for the new week. More characters have been added to the character page of “The Map Maker,” along with a teeny tiny backstory.
Before you meet them, here’s a quick recap of terms.
A RECAP OF TERMS
GODS:
Creatures powerful enough to create planets. These are beings such as the Great Frog who made Fistbump the Sky and his enemy the evil fox.
DEMIGODS:
These are creatures who were accidentally created by the Great Frog and who sprouted from the seeds embedded in the cake that is Fistbump the Sky.
They are sometimes referred to as the “Seed-Borns” and “gods” as they made the inhabitants of the world. But, make no mistake, compared to the Great Frog they are very much demigods.
CREATURES:
Sometimes referred to as “Ingredient-Born,” these are not the small, animal-like critters you will find on Fistbump the Sky. They are the inhabitants who were made by the Seed-Born demigods who combined parts of themselves with the baking ingredients that helped create the Fistbump the Sky cake.
With that out of the way, let’s meet the new characters, shall we?
THIS WEEK’S CHARACTERS
SIYA
God of the oceans
Siya is one of three gods who did not sprout from a seed and one of the few with a gender. No one can honestly claim to know how she was born, but some believe Fistbump the Sky created her to tame the temperamental oceans. This theory has become quite popular among older creatures, as Siya can often be seen at the ocean's borders.
Siya wears a cape made of moving water and a coral necklace as an accessory. If she has one, her face is hidden by a white mask made from oyster shells, with four similar masks stacked on top. Each mask is in one of the ocean colours with a painted expression. They are constantly rotating, with Siya’s current state facing the front. Like most of the seed-born demigods, Siya does not speak. That’s about as far as the similarities go, as she has never created any creatures and cares nothing for them. They are not her priority. The only creatures she ever showed any attachment to are the Aquarians and Bomblo because of her love for seashells.
AG
God of creativity & transformation
In case it's unclear from the illustration, Ag is a giant octopus with a body and mask made from paper with marigold flowers as tentacle suckers and headwear. Despite Ag’s terrifying appearance, they are considered the kindest of the seed-born gods.
After discovering that creating life can be incredibly stimulating, Ag created more creatures than any of the other gods. Ag also actively participates in helping their creatures find inspiration and even goes as far as helping the Magnificents deliver their annual performances. As Ag is an octopus, they most certainly do not have a mouth, yet speak to any of their followers through a mental voice.
All they need to do is ask.
Aside from Ag and Siya, very condensed versions of the Great Frog and evil fox’s backstories have also been added to the character page of “The Map Maker.” The two of them are the characters referred to the most, so you might want to check that out.
That’s it for this week’s characters. I hope you have a great week and we’ll see each other again next week Sunday.
