Letter 3, Demigods Piesang & Three
Hello, Dear Traveller,
Welcome back to the first creatures of Fistbump the Sky.
Today, we will be meeting two new demigods.
This brings us one newsletter closer to “The Map Maker,” and I’m already starting to feel those annoying butterflies in my stomach. I’ve wanted to create a serialised story for over ten years, so I’m both excited and terrified to publish the first chapter.

A RECAP OF TERMS
GODS:
Creatures powerful enough to create planets. These are beings such as the Great Frog, who made Fistbump the Sky, and his enemy, the evil fox.
DEMIGODS:
The Great Frog accidentally created these creatures from the seeds embedded in the cake, Fistbump the Sky.
They are sometimes called the “Seed-Borns” or “gods” by the inhabitants as they were made by the demigods. But make no mistake; compared to the Great Frog, they are very much demigods.
CREATURES:
Sometimes referred to as “Ingredient-Born,” these are not tiny, animal-like critters. They are the inhabitants made by the demigods when they combined parts of themselves with the baking ingredients that made the cake known that we call Fistbump the Sky.

THREE
GOD OF THE FORESTS
Three, like Siya, is one of the three gods not born from a seed.
In fact, Three was not born at all but manifested from the souls of the three forests. Due to this compilation, Three has the body of a mushroom and three eyes on its stomach to watch over the forests. A guardian more than a god, Three silently observes those who enter the forests, striking down any who disrespects a single leaf.
This manifestation’s terrifying nature can be witnessed in greater detail in “The Map Maker.”
Three was inspired by the forest spirits in the Studio Ghibli films. Those little spirits, with their black eyes and spasm-like movements, have always made me feel rather uneasy. Other inspirations were the folk tales I grew up with. More than anything, I’d say I was inspired by the fairytales I grew up with about forest gods and fairies who trick you without reason or mercy. Now, mix these scary forest spirits with the attributes of Fisbump the Sky’s Forests of Colour, and you’ve got yourself a forest guard called Three. And, yes, I did name it Three after the amount of forests. Sue me.
PIESANG
GOD OF INVENTION & CURIOSITY
If you see a triangle slowly making its way over a hill, don’t panic.
It’s most likely, Piesang, the banana-snail. As the god of inventors and scholars, Piesang can make anything they think of and communicate with various materials, such as rock and metal. Piesang shared these abilities with a few of their creations.
I decided to have the god of invention made from a banana as it was by far the most logical choice. Well, it was for me, anyway. I mean, it’s a fruit in the shape of a crescent moon, and it gives you potassium. Don’t forget our uses for bananas, like plates made from the leaves, woven baskets, and skin care.
Thus, the god of creation had to be a banana.
I then added the body of a snail because that’s what the creation process feels like to me – slow movements and an oozing of thoughts. As for the name, well, that’s the word for banana in my native language, Afrikaans. You know the language that the actress, Charlize Theron, speaks? That one.
That’s it for this week’s new characters. Once I’m done with the demigods I’ll be starting on the ingredient characters. There’s a bunch of them, though, so maybe I should do three characters a week instead of two. What do you think?

It had to be. Could you imagine any other plant for transformation? I wouldn't dare O_O
