The first of the monthly zines have been released which makes it the perfect time to get your hands on the digital copy. Now, I can hear you from all the way in the Southern Hemisphere: Why does this zine matter?
I believe that depends on how much importance you put on our own creation story. Do you believe in the Big Bang? Aliens? Perhaps you don’t believe in any of the main stream ideas of how we came to be on this green and blue planet. “The Origin Story of Fistbump the Sky,” is, dare I say, the most important zine in the FISTBUMP THE SKY series, explaining the creation of the world, but also it’s main god: the Great Frog.
GOD IS A FROG
Millions of years ago, there existed multiple ‘forces’ that were tasked with creating the universe and all that we know of it. Two of these were called Life and Energy. When Life eventually became bored of their duty, Energy decided to send them gifts by strapping them onto four animals: An elephant, deer, frog, and fox.
These animal companions and gifts were sure to cheer up Life. Only they never reached. Feeling appalled at being places last and carrying items as mundane as baking ingredient, the fox decided to shove the other animals before him to disrupt their travels and damage their goods, proving his superiority.
However, what nobody could expect, was that the fox’s baking ingredients and the seeds the frog was carrying before him would end up mixing together.
The frog tried to save whatever seeds it could, creating a strange dough instead that hardened, becoming a misshapen cake. Creatures sprouted from the seeds while forests grew from his hand prints.
Unexpectedly, the frog became the creator of a planet and, so too, it’s god.
